For the longest time, whenever I would plan a trip out of the country, I never really ventured far from the usual choices of the USA (to visit family), Japan and the more familiar countries in Europe, unless it was part of an Ocean cruise stop.
Which was how I first experienced Turkiye.
A one day stop over in Istanbul and another in Kusadasi via a Meditterranean Cruise some years back.
My memory about those are limited as port times are not exactly long and I was always rushing.
I do remember going to a massive mosque, a very colorful market and tasting the sweetest Turkish Delight.
I was unimpressed.
Fast forward to 2023.
My former feelings for Turkiye have been crushed.
I am now a Turkiye fan and convert
Why? How?
It’s Simple
I got to experience Turkiye…. Really experience it…..through 9 days of constant adventures and fun, the way it should be experienced.
Under the Classical Turkiye package of The Travel Warehouse Inc., I rediscovered Istanbul and Kusadasi, add to that places I never would have thought to explore: Pamukkale, Konya, Ankara and Cappadocia, world famous for their colorful hot air balloons but have so much more to offer.
9 full days of beautiful places like the last home of the Virgin Mary and the ancient city of Ephesus, the Haggia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, the overwhelming sounds and scents at the Spice Market and the Grand Bazaar, plus cruising on the Bosphorus Strait.
My trip to Turkiye was my first grand adventure since the pandemic hit. And I’m so glad that it was because it reminded me perfectly of how life changing and eye opening travel could be, of why it’s good to step out of our comfort zone, And that sometimes, first impressions could be wrong.
